RSP puts forward three-point proposal to resolve crisis

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has presented a three-point proposal to address the country’s ongoing political crisis.

In a statement issued by acting chair Dol Prasad Aryal, the party stressed governance reforms, adherence to the spirit of the constitution, and a fresh mandate as immediate priorities, to be pursued through all-party consensus.

The RSP highlighted the decisive participation of the Gen-Z movement as a democratic intervention, making clear that their involvement in the process of selecting the next prime minister is essential. The party pledged to support a consensus candidate endorsed by all sides.

The statement reaffirmed that RSP will not compromise on constitutional values, federal republican governance, rule of law, citizen sovereignty, pluralism, and fundamental rights. Citing Article 83 of the constitution, it emphasized the continuity and vitality of the National Assembly, while also calling for fresh elections to the House of Representatives within six months under an interim government.

The party urged President Ram Chandra Paudel to take a direct role in safeguarding the transitional political course, demanded a high-level judicial probe into the suppression of the September 8 protest, the subsequent casualties, and damage to public property, and sought the formation of an independent commission to investigate major corruption cases since 1990.

According to RSP, the process for this commission must begin within 15 days of the formation of the new government.
