NEPSE falls 27.90 points, closes at 2,822



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 27.90 points on Monday, settling at 2,822.46 points.

Although the market opened on a positive note, it began to decline after 32 minutes of trading.

Despite the fall in the index, total turnover rose sharply. Monday’s transactions reached Rs 10.21 billion, compared to Rs 8.53 billion the previous day. Out of the listed companies, 30 saw their share prices increase, while 220 declined.

Most sector sub-indices ended the day in negative territory, with microfinance and development banks suffering the sharpest declines, falling 2.35% and 2.31% respectively.

The banking sector dropped 0.41%, finance slipped 1.27%, hotels and tourism declined 0.76%, hydropower shed 1.41%, investment fell 1.17%, life insurance dipped 0.80%, manufacturing and processing eased 0.75%, non-life insurance dropped 1.24%, and trading lost 1.44%.

The only bright spot was the Others sector, which inched up by 0.31%.
