Sudurpaschim Province to provide Rs 500,000 to family of inmate killed in Kailali Prison



KAILALI: The Sudurpaschim Province Government has announced Rs 500,000 in compensation for the family of Bharat Chaudhary, an inmate who died after a violent clash in Kailali Prison on Friday night.

The decision was made during a meeting of the provincial security committee on Sunday evening, chaired by Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah, according to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law. The government will also cover the cost of medical treatment for the 44 prisoners injured in the incident.

The committee decided to strengthen prison security, improve resource management, install CCTV cameras, and carry out urgent maintenance work at the facility.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Hira Singh Sarki, heads of provincial security agencies, the Chief District Officer of Kailali, and representatives from the National Human Rights Commission.

Chaudhary, a resident of Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City-4, died on Saturday while receiving treatment.
