Extreme heat forces school closures in Parsa and Bara

BIRGUNJ: Due to disruptions in teaching and learning caused by extreme heat, local authorities in Parsa and Bara have decided to close schools for three days starting today.

Praduman Prasad Chauhan, Mayor of Pokhariya Municipality in Parsa, announced that community and institutional schools within the municipality will observe a short break from June 11 to 13.

“Considering the health risks extreme heat poses to children, we have decided to grant a three-day summer break from June 11 to 13,” he said, adding that schools will resume operations from June 15.

The municipality has confirmed that teaching and learning activities from early childhood development through Grade 12 will be suspended during this period.

Similarly, neighboring Kalaiya Sub-metropolitan City, which borders Parsa, has also declared a three-day school closure due to the extreme heat.

Rajiv Kumar Yadav, Head of the Municipal Education Branch in Kalaiya, stated that schools will be closed from June 11 to 13 to address the difficulties students are facing because of the heat. Schools in the sub-metropolitan area are expected to reopen without restrictions from June 15.
