KATHMANDU: Mitch Hutchcraft, a former Royal Marine, reached the summit of Mount Everest on Sunday, completing what is being described as the longest recorded ascent of the world’s highest peak.
According to sources at Everest Base Camp, Hutchcraft reached the summit alongside his guide, Gelje Sherpa of AGA Adventures at 9 am.
The British adventurer set off from his home in Dover around eight months ago, embarking on an extraordinary journey of nearly 13,000 kilometers.
He swam across the English Channel, cycled across Europe into Asia, ran from the coast of India to Nepal, and then walked from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp before making the final ascent to the 8,848.86-metre summit.
