RSP general convention in limbo after Lamichhane’s arrest

KATHMANDU: The upcoming general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), scheduled for April, has become uncertain following the arrest of party chair Rabi Lamichhane.

According to party leaders, the two-day secretariat meeting held on Wednesday and Thursday after Lamichhane’s imprisonment did not make any decision regarding the convention.

Though the issue was discussed during the meeting, leaders said they are unsure if it will be possible to hold the event in April as planned. A final decision will be made during the party’s central committee meeting scheduled for April 17.

Meanwhile, the party has decided to continue with its Janayatra campaign. The secretariat meeting also discussed formally informing the central committee about the possible delay in the general convention.
