KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli has called on the private sector to submit a detailed proposal for the revival of sick industries through a partnership model.

Speaking at a meeting of the Commerce-Industry Promotion Dialogue Council at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers today, PM Oli urged the private sector to swiftly present a concrete proposal, emphasizing the government’s willingness to engage in partnerships.

He assured that the government would amend relevant laws to create a conducive environment for such initiatives and pledged full support to the private sector to boost economic prosperity.

PM Oli also directed concerned agencies to take strict action against those involved in irregularities related to customs and revenue.

He highlighted the importance of developing the country to generate wealth, stressing that development cannot be achieved solely through capital.

Council members proposed co-investment and public-private collaboration, increasing the use of indigenous goods in public institutions, reducing the trade deficit, and expediting the completion of ongoing construction projects.

The meeting also covered the government’s ongoing efforts in economic and administrative reforms, the positive impact of amendments made to 29 laws through ordinances, progress in development projects, and initiatives to support start-ups and facilitate trade.
