KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Gorkhas and Lumbini Lions face off today (Wednesday) in the eliminator match of the ongoing Nepal Premier League (NPL) in Kathmandu. The match will begin at 4 pm at the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Kathmandu finished third in the league stage, while Lumbini secured fourth place to enter the eliminator. The winner of today’s match will advance to play Biratnagar Kings in the second qualifier. Biratnagar, who lost to Sudurpaschim Royals by 77 runs in the first qualifier, now has a second chance to reach the final.
The losing team in today’s eliminator will exit the title race, making the match crucial for both sides. Kathmandu had defeated Lumbini by 22 runs in the league stage.
Lumbini started the tournament with a win but then faced three consecutive losses before bouncing back with three straight victories to enter the playoffs with eight points from seven matches.
Kathmandu, with five wins and two losses, finished the league stage with 10 points—equal to Biratnagar—but slipped to third due to an inferior net run rate.
