RPP withdraws support from new Madhesh government, calls CM appointment ‘serious breach of discipline’

JANAKPURDHAM: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has opposed Madhesh Province Chief Sumitra Subedi Bhandari’s controversial decision to appoint CPN-UML leader Saroj Kumar Yadav as Chief Minister from a hotel in Bardibas.

RPP Chairman Rajendra Prasad Lingden said the party’s attention had been drawn to its participation in the newly formed provincial government, calling it a serious violation of party discipline.

In a statement posted on social media, Lingden directed all RPP members involved in the Madhesh government to withdraw immediately, warning of action if they failed to comply.

“Our serious attention has been drawn to RPP’s participation in the Madhesh Province government. This is a grave breach of party discipline. All party members are directed to withdraw from the government immediately, or face action in line with the party statute,” Lingden wrote.

The RPP’s decision adds to the growing wave of opposition against Province Chief Bhandari’s late-night move, which has already sparked outrage from the Nepali Congress, Maoist Centre, and other parties calling it unconstitutional and politically unethical.
