40 inmates recaptured after mass prison break in Dang



DANG: Security forces have recaptured 40 inmates who escaped from the Tulsi­pur prison in Dang, officials confirmed on Wednesday.

Prison chief Gir Bahadur Sejuwal said the arrests were made with support from the Nepal Army. A total of 253 inmates broke out earlier on Wednesday, in addition to 124 who fled on Tuesday. Of the 469 prisoners held at the facility, 337 men remain at large.

Officials said no female inmates escaped. The prisoners had broken through the jail compound despite warning shots fired by the army.
