Gen-Z virtual meeting chooses former Chief Justice Karki as interim head

KATHMANDU: In a virtual meeting lasting nearly four hours, members of the Gen-Z movement have decided to accept former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the interim leader to represent them in upcoming discussions.

During the Zoom session, the group said no youth affiliated with political parties should participate in leadership talks. Civic activist Karki, who currently remains unaffiliated with any political party, was selected to ensure neutrality in negotiations.

The Gen-Z members also noted that there is currently no other capable individual suitable to assume this role. They agreed to issue a formal notice announcing Karki’s leadership. Names of Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and young political leader Sagar Dhakal were also mentioned

The group underlined that the leadership and agenda must be universally accepted among members. Previously, Army Chief General Ashok Raj Sigdel had suggested that Gen-Z representatives hold talks with the Rastriya Swatantra Party and Durga Prasai, which the group declined.
