NRNA-Australia to resume membership distribution ahead of unity convention

SYDNEY: The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) National Coordination Council (NCC) Australia is set to resume its stalled membership distribution process, aiming to hold a long-awaited unity convention by including previously dissenting factions.

In a renewed push for organizational cohesion, NRNA has appointed Bivek Thapa as the coordinator for the unity convention.

The move comes under the guidance of a high-level committee tasked with unifying all wings of the diaspora community under one inclusive platform.

Speaking on behalf of the committee, NRNA General Secretary BR Lama stated that Thapa has been entrusted with the responsibility to ensure a fair, inclusive, and successful election process.

“His mandate includes identifying and addressing outstanding issues in the membership process and preparing for a representative and participatory NCC convention,” Lama said.

He said the decision aims to make NRNA a unified voice for all Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) in Australia.

“This initiative seeks to build a broadly accepted, inclusive organization through consultations with various associations, community leaders, and the wider NRN public,” Lama said.

The organization now plans to include those who have previously been unable to register as members, paving the way for a larger, more representative NRNA-Australia.
