Donald Trump says Pakistan and India have agreed to ‘full and immediate ceasefire’

WASHINGTON DC: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister has announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire, though India has yet to issue an official statement.

Meanwhile, former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed the agreement followed “a long night of talks mediated by the United States.” His Secretary of State commended both countries for their “wisdom” and “prudence” in de-escalating tensions.

Earlier this week, India conducted airstrikes targeting locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir in retaliation for a deadly militant attack on Indian tourists in Pahalgam last month — an attack Islamabad has denied involvement in.

Since the start of India’s military operation, both sides have exchanged accusations of cross-border shelling, missile strikes, and drone attacks. The two nuclear-armed nations both claim Kashmir in its entirety.
