KATHMANDU: Talks among opposition parties has gained momentum of late.

The political discussions have been energized by the active involvement of Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, Chairman of the main opposition Maoist Center.

Amid speculation of a rift between the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML over the issue of constitutional amendments, opposition leaders have started to unite.

On Friday, Maoist Chairman Prachanda and Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal engaged in talks. These discussions have been ongoing for several days.

The two leaders are making preparations to revive the Socialist Front, which has become dormant, especially after the possibility of unity between the two parties faltered.

While Madhav and Prachanda were in discussions at Singha Durbar about revitalizing the Socialist Front, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden and Janata Samajwadi Party leader Rajendra Shrestha also joined the conversation.

Amid speculations about a potential power-sharing agreement between Nepali Congress and UML, Prachanda has convinced Madhav Nepal to strengthen the opposition by reviving the Socialist Front.

With talks of differences between Congress and UML regarding constitutional amendments, the opposition parties have now moved to bolster their front.

Reports suggest that Prime Minister KP Oli is preparing to bring an ordinance related to the division of political parties.

In response, Dahal has used a strategy of uniting other parties to block the ordinance.

While the government delays calling the winter session, the opposition has planned to increase pressure.

After a meeting with various party leaders at the Maoist parliamentary office in Singha Durbar, Chairman Dahal expressed his belief that the government led by KP Oli would not last long.

On the other hand, RPP Chairman Lingden argued that the current government leadership and system would not benefit the people and that finding an alternative should not be delayed.
