Eye treatment services to begin at Tharpu Hospital in Tanahun

TANAHUN: Tharpu Hospital, located in Myagde Rural Municipality–4, is set to begin regular eye treatment services. For this purpose, Myagde Rural Municipality has signed an agreement with the Pokhara-based Himalaya Eye Hospital, Gharipatan.

The agreement aims to provide accessible and affordable eye care to residents of the area. The pact was signed between Rural Municipality Chair Shree Prasad Shrestha and Himalaya Eye Hospital Medical Director Dr. Babita Gurung, with services scheduled to commence from January 3.

Under the agreement, an eye technician will provide daily eye treatment services, ending the need for locals to travel to Damauli or Khairenitar for eye checkups. Himalaya Eye Hospital will supply the necessary technology and equipment, while Myagde Rural Municipality will assist in operating the treatment center.

The rural municipality will provide Rs 600,000 annually to Himalaya Eye Hospital for service delivery, and revenue collected from patients will go to the rural municipality.

To ensure efficient and quality operation, an Eye Treatment Center Support Committee will be formed. The chairperson of the Tharpu Aadharbhut Hospital Management Committee will serve as the coordinator, and a social worker appointed by the rural municipality chair will act as co-coordinator.

Other members will include the chairs of Wards 4 and 7 of Myagde Rural Municipality, the manager of Himalaya Eye Hospital and one representative appointed by the manager, the head of the rural municipality’s health branch, and the head of Tharpu Hospital, who will serve as member secretary.
