FNCCI Chair Dhakal deplores attack on industries during protest

Dhulikhel: Chairperson of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has expressed worry over the targets made on industries during the protest. It was wrong that industries and individual property were looted, vandalized and torched in the recent protest, he added.

Chairperson Dhakal said it while inaugurating the 59th anniversary of Kavre district chapter of FNCCI amidst a function in Banepa on Sunday. “Private sector has given employments to the youths and contributed to the government in revenue generation,” he said, reminding the State to ensure security to the private sector with proper policy in place. He also demanded action against those infiltrating the Gen Z protest, as the Gen Z had not intended violence.

According to him, Nepal Development Company was brought to operation with the investment of Rs 10 billion that aims to give a message that even the mega projects could be materialized with the mobilization of domestic capital. The initiative was taken by the FNCCI.
This venture would encourage the aspiring investors for capital formation and mobilization so that industrial regime could be expanded significantly. “At a time when a negative narrative has making rounds in Nepal, this venture helps industrialists make investment,” he shared.

On the occasion, Mayor of Panchkhal municipality, Mahesh Kharel, also expressed disappointment over the plight borne by the industrialists in the wake of recent protest.

Chairperson of FNCCI, Kavre, Pratap Vaidya, informed that the entrepreneurs in the commercial towns of Kavre district like Banepa, Panauti and Dhulikhel were facing problems in course of the expansion of Araniko Highway. So, a certain location was required for smooth functioning of business, agriculture and commerce, he opined.

Vaidya further urged the concerned stakeholders that they took initiatives to allocate sufficient budget to the under-construction industrial village of Mandan Deupur and special economic zone of Panchkhal, Kavre.
