KATHMANDU: Medical education reform activist Dr. Govinda KC has urged the government to revoke decisions made in the past under the influence of vested interests.
Meeting Prime Minister Sushila Karki at Singha Durbar, Dr. KC claimed that previous governments had increased medical college seats to favor business groups and demanded those decisions be reversed.
He was accompanied by former vice-chair of the Medical Education Commission, Shreekrishna Giri, and Prof. Dr. Jagdish Prasad Agrawal. Dr. KC also submitted a 10-point memorandum to the prime minister.
The discussion was attended by Prime Minister Karki, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Education Minister Mahabir Pun, Health Minister Dr. Sudha Gautam, and Vice-Chair of the Medical Education Commission Dr. Anjani Jha.
