Oli mocks Home Minister Aryal, says ‘don’t overreact’

BHAKTAPUR: CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli has advised Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal to remain calm and avoid being provoked, saying that running the country is not a matter of jokes or impulsive decisions.

Speaking at a UML program in Bhaktapur on Thursday, Oli said he did not even know Aryal before his appointment as home minister.

“How many of you had even heard his name before?” Oli asked the audience. “I myself hadn’t. I came to know him only after he became home minister,” he said, drawing laughter from party cadres.

Oli added that while he had no personal remarks to make about the minister, he wanted to offer “a friendly piece of advice.” “I just want to suggest the Home Minister not to be provoked, not to overreact, and to handle matters sensibly,” he said.

Stressing that governance is not about humor or theatrics, Oli urged Aryal to approach his responsibilities with seriousness and restraint.
