Insurance claims from Gen-Z protest reach Rs 23.22 billion



KATHMANDU: The total amount of insurance claims filed for property and other damages caused during the Gen-Z protest of September 8 and 9 has reached Rs 23.22 billion, according to the Nepal Insurance Authority.

As of October 8, a total of 3,099 claims have been lodged across 14 non-life insurance companies and four micro non-life insurance firms, amounting to Rs 23.22 billion.

Out of the total claims, the companies have already made advance payments worth Rs 1.29 billion and, the Board reported.

To assess the extent of the losses, 2,706 surveyors have been mobilized so far. Of them, 374 survey reports have already been submitted to the companies.

The Board said it is closely monitoring the claim settlement process to ensure prompt payment and transparency.
