Gagan Thapa says he is safe

KATHMANDU: Following reports of attacks on Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, a video circulating on social media claimed that party General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa was also beaten during the ongoing Gen-Z protests.

However, careful examination of the footage shows that the person being assaulted in the video does not resemble Thapa.

Thapa’s secretariat has clarified the matter, assuring the public that the General Secretary is safe. “General Secretary Thapa is safe,” the statement read. “No assault has taken place.”

Authorities and party officials continue to urge the public to verify information before sharing, amid a surge of misinformation circulating during the nationwide unrest.
