ANFA to hold senior team trials ahead of Bangladesh matches

KATHMANDU: Nepal national football team head coach Matt Ross has named 39 players for a three-day selection camp to determine the preliminary squad for next month’s international friendlies against Bangladesh.

The selection program will run from August 10 to 12 at the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) complex. Players chosen from the camp will be included in the preliminary national squad.

Nepal is set to host Bangladesh on September 6 and 9 at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu. The matches are expected to serve as important preparation for upcoming regional and international competitions.

In a statement, ANFA said the listed players must report to the team manager by the morning of August 10. This is the first time in several years that Nepal’s preliminary squad will be determined through a formal selection process before its announcement.

Ross, who took over as head coach earlier this year, has emphasized competition for places in the team as a key part of his approach.
