Nepali Congress takes action against 18 leaders for betrayal during 2079 elections



KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress has taken disciplinary action against 18 party leaders for working against official party candidates during the 2079 local, provincial, and federal elections.

According to the Central Disciplinary Committee led by Ananda Prasad Dhungana, the decision to take action was made after verifying evidence that these leaders acted contrary to party interests.

Out of the 18, six leaders have been expelled from the party for one year, including high-profile figures such as provincial general secretaries, district presidents, and former provincial ministers, 11 leaders have been suspended for six months, and one leader has been suspended for three months.

Expelled for one year:

  1. Bikram Khanal – General Secretary, Lumbini Province
  2. Kumar Khadka – Former Minister, Gandaki Province
  3. Bishnu Kumar Rai – District President, Khotang
  4. Tulsi Subba – General Convention Member, Tehrathum
  5. Arbind Kumar Gupta – Regional President, Parsa-1
  6. Ananda Yadav – President, Lakshminiya Rural Municipality, Dhanusha

Suspended for six months:

  1. Khataru Yadav – Municipal President, Sabaila, Dhanusha
  2. Rambabu Yadav – Dhanushadham Municipality-1, Dhanusha
  3. Phulgen Yadav – President, Mukhiyapatti Musaharnia, Dhanusha
  4. Bhavna Shrestha – Regional Joint Secretary, Kaski-2
  5. Purna Kumar Kunwar – Former Secretary, Kailali
  6. Bhim Bahadur Shah – Convention Delegate, Dhangadhi-2, Kailali
  7. Anandaraj Joshi – Former General Convention Member, Dhangadhi-1, Kailali
  8. Ravindra Pratap Singh – Regional Representative, Dhangadhi-2, Kailali
  9. Lekharaj Ojha – Active Member, Dhangadhi-1, Kailali
  10. Subhash Chand – Active Member, Dhangadhi-5, Kailali
  11. Bablu Kumar Chaudhary – Former Convention Delegate, Kailali

Suspended for three months:

  1. Krishna KC – Former President, Kaski

The party said the action was necessary to maintain internal discipline and organizational integrity, even though it comes nearly three years after the elections.
