House session will resume today at 2 pm: Speaker

KATHMANDU: Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire, has announced that the obstructed parliamentary session will resume today at 2 pm.

Speaking after observing a photo exhibition titled “Mountain Tourism: Our Pride, Our Identity” organized by Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) on the occasion of Republic Day, Speaker Ghimire confirmed the long-stalled House proceedings will restart this afternoon.

“The House should not have been obstructed in the first place, but it happened. Now the session will resume today at 2 pm,” Ghimire stated, adding, “Normally, House meetings are held at 11 am or 1 pm, but today it has been scheduled for 2 pm. I am hopeful it will start on time.”

Speaker Ghimire said with the ongoing budget session, critical agendas await discussion, and disruptions have already caused significant delays. He pointed out the need to minimize participation if necessary and follow procedural norms to complete deliberations on the budget.

“The damage has already been done due to delays. Now we must adjust the agenda accordingly and complete the budget discussions as per the parliamentary process,” he said.

He added that the upcoming schedule of the House will be aligned with the necessity to conclude budget deliberations within the allocated timeframe.
