Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon set to take place tomorrow



JUMLA: The sixth edition of the Jumla-Rara Ultra Marathon is set to kick off on Saturday, with 591 athletes expected to participate, the Karnali Sports Club announced at a press conference today.

The 51-kilometre race will see participants from Nepal and abroad. According to Club President Saroj Shahi, 74 professional athletes from Nepal, along with two from India and one each from Poland, the United States, and France, will compete in the main ultra marathon event.

In addition to the elite race, the event includes other categories: a five-kilometre run for 155 government employees and a 10-kilometre race for 355 students. Two athletes from the Tribhuvan Army Club will also take part in the marathon.

Shahi informed that a budget of Rs 2.8 million has been allocated for the event. He expressed confidence that the marathon would help promote tourism in Jumla and the surrounding Karnali region.

All logistical and security preparations have been completed for the successful hosting of the event.
