Bodies of two children drowned in Narayani recovered by Armed Police divers

KATHMANDU: The bodies of two children who had gone missing in the Narayani River at Gaindakot Municipality–1, East Nawalparasi, were recovered on April 9 by a team of divers from the Armed Police Force.

According to DSP Shailendra Thapa, 13-year-old Dikshya Serpunja and 9-year-old Swapnil Serpunja, residents of the area, drowned while bathing in the river on April 8.

Upon receiving information about the incident, a rescue team including divers was deployed from Armed Police Force Nepal Battalion No. 17, Chitwan, under the command of Assistant Inspector Bhup Bahadur Budhathoki. The team recovered Swapnil’s body from a depth of 35 feet at 11:30 AM and Dikshya’s from 50 feet at 12:30 PM.
