Fire breaks out in Achham’s Jaigad Bazaar



ACHHAM: A massive fire broke out in Jaigad Bazaar, located in Bannigadi Jaigad Rural Municipality after a gas cylinder exploded at the IME center operated by Pushparaj Sharma.

The fire started around 7 p.m. on Tuesday and quickly spread through the main market area, causing extensive damage.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ishwori Prasad Bhandari, Chief of the District Police Office, Achham, the blaze damaged several shops and homes, including a mobile shop owned by Himal Saud, herbal medicine shops run by Ram Bahadur Raut and Manju Saud, a rental shop owned by Rati Saud, grocery stores operated by Gokul Saud and Khagendra Saud, gold and silver shops belonging to Kismat Sunar and Kalu Sunar, as well as the house of Ratan Saud.

Efforts to control the fire involved a 20-member team from the Nepal Army’s Gorakhnath Battalion in Mangalsen, a 9-member team from the District Police Office, and an 11-member team from the Armed Police Force, Khaptad Gulma.

A fire engine from Mangalsen Municipality was also deployed to help extinguish the flames.

Police say the fire caused extensive damage to Jaigad Bazaar. As the fire broke out during the night, darkness posed additional challenges to controlling it.
