Former DIG Chhabi Lal Joshi ordered to post Rs 8.8 million bail in cooperative fraud case

KATHMANDU: Kaski District Court has ordered former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Chhabi Lal Joshi to post bail of Rs 8.8 million in connection with the embezzlement of savings from Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara.

Joshi was arrested on September 22 and faces charges of cooperative fraud, organized crime, and money laundering.

Judge Nitij Rai issued the order on Thursday, allowing Joshi to secure release upon payment of the bail amount.

Joshi’s business partner at Gorkha Media Network, Rabi Lamichhane, has also been implicated in the case, with the court demanding Rs 6.5 million bail from him.
