Four Nepalis among 25 killed in Goa nightclub fire

KATHMANDU: Twenty-five people, including four Nepali nationals, were killed in a devastating fire at an Indian nightclub in Goa’s Arpora area, authorities said on Monday.

Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Shankar Sharma, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the bereaved families. In a statement, he also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.

Most of the victims are reported to be Indian nationals, primarily nightclub employees and holidaymakers visiting from New Delhi.

Officials said the fire broke out at a club in Arpora, located in North Goa, and preliminary suspicions point to electrical fireworks as the possible cause. The blaze reportedly started from the wooden sections of the club and spread rapidly, leading to multiple casualties.

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said four individuals have been arrested for investigation, and authorities have ordered inspections of other nightclubs in the area.
