Tanahun DAO sets quota of 40 passports per day

TANAHUN: The District Administration Office (DAO) in Tanahun has set a quota of 40 passports per day starting Friday. The office said it currently operates with only one workstation provided by the Department of Passports, and therefore, from 10:30 a.m. every Friday, online booking will open for 40 passport applications per week.

During the Gen-Z movement, equipment related to the electronic passport system at the office was destroyed in arson and vandalism incidents.

Administrative Officer Bikash Shrestha said the quota system was introduced due to limited technical capacity and a high number of applicants.

The office has also urged service seekers not to rely on unauthorized middlemen and to remain cautious against potential fraud.

According to the Department of Passports, a new supplier is expected to begin regular passport booklet supply from February 23, after which the current quota system will remain in effect only for urgent cases until further notice.
