Mahesh Basnet alleges administrative pressure to arrest him and others under Balen’s plan

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader Mahesh Basnet has alleged that administration officials were pressured under KMC Mayor Balen Shah’s plan to arrest him, KP Sharma Oli, and Ramesh Lekhak.

Speaking at a press conference at the UML party central office in Chyasal on Wednesday, Basnet claimed that individuals like Sudan Gurung were used to pressure the administration into executing the arrests.

He further accused that under the guise of the Gen-Z movement, international agendas attempted to seize state mechanisms. Basnet also alleged that the vandalism and arson targeting leaders’ homes and other structures were carried out as part of Balen’s plan.

Basnet criticized ongoing cybercrime activities, claiming the Home Administration is protecting such illegal operations.

He emphasized that the investigation commission formed for the Gen-Z movement incidents must conduct impartial investigations and ensure punishment for the guilty.

Basnet also stated that prior plans to arrest him were rejected by the court due to lack of evidence, but now the case has been reopened under pressure. He added that despite attempts to intimidate him since the festival of Phulpati, he has no fear of arrest and announced a nationwide campaign against anarchy under the Gen-Z banner.
