RSP demands dismissal of coalition govt following Gen-Z protest crackdown

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has demanded the immediate dismissal of the ruling UML–Nepali Congress coalition government, citing widespread corruption, violations of legal governance, political repression, and suppression of freedom of expression through social media restrictions.

In a statement released on Monday, Party General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti condemned the government’s crackdown on the peaceful Gen-Z protests in the capital.

“The indiscriminate killings of unarmed youth have completely delegitimized the current government. The attempt to prolong misrule at the cost of the blood of its own citizens will no longer be tolerated by the people,” the statement read.

RASWPA has urged the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the formation of a high-level judicial commission for impartial investigation, and strict action against Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and other responsible officials.

The party also criticized the current federal parliament, dominated by Nepali Congress and UML, as incapable of resolving national issues and called for immediate elections to seek a fresh mandate.

Paying tribute to the Gen-Z protesters killed during clashes with police, RSP requested the government ensure free medical treatment for the injured. The party’s secretariat is currently meeting to finalize the roadmap for upcoming protests, which will be announced soon.
