Tension in New Baneswor as protests escalate

KATHMANDU: The New Baneswor area remains tense amid ongoing protests led by the Gen-Z movement.

An armed police officer was injured during the clashes and has been taken for medical treatment. Both police and some protesters reportedly assisted in transporting the injured officer.

The protesters, identifying themselves as part of the Gen-Z movement, have gathered in large numbers in New Baneshwor. Following their forceful entry into the Federal Parliament Building, security personnel have been significantly reinforced in the area.

Demonstrators have surrounded the Parliament Building from all directions, and roads in front of all three main gates are now under their control. Protesters have also been seen hurling stones inside the Parliament premises.

The Gen-Z protesters have taken to the streets, accusing political leaders of unchecked corruption and failing to bring about meaningful reform.
