Nepal scrape past Saudi Arabia in AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers

THIMPU: In their second match of the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers held in Thimphu, Bhutan, Nepal managed a hard-fought 1-0 win against Saudi Arabia.

The match took place at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, where Nepal had to wait until the very last moment to score the winning goal. In the 90th minute, Sukriya Miya tapped in a goal assisted by Mina Deuba, securing the victory for Nepal.

Despite Saudi Arabia creating some promising chances during the match, they failed to convert any into goals.

In their first match, Nepal drew 1-1 against Bhutan in their opening match, while Saudi Arabia suffered a heavy 15-0 defeat to North Korea.

After the draw in their first match, Nepal’s chances of topping the group have taken a hit. Nepal will face the strong North Korean team next on Sunday.

The tournament rules state that the winner of each group will qualify for the Asian Cup, along with the three best runners-up.
