Two bodies found in Dhading after floodwaters surge in Trishuli River

KATHMANDU: Two bodies were recovered in separate locations in Dhading district on Tuesday after heavy flooding in the upper Trishuli River, caused by torrential rain upstream in Nuwakot.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Subas Hamal of the District Police Office, the bodies, both male, were found in Belkhu of Gajuri Rural Municipality-6 and in Keureni of Galchhi Rural Municipality-2.

The Trishuli River has seen a significant rise in water levels since early morning.

In a separate incident, a body that was being cremated along the riverbank in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 was swept away by a sudden flood. Local resident Kumar Basnet reported that the rising waters washed away the body along with the funeral pyre.

In a joint statement, the District Administration Offices of Dhading, Nuwakot, and Rasuwa urged residents living along the Trishuli River to remain on high alert due to rising water levels following heavy rainfall last night.

Authorities have requested the public to immediately inform nearby security agencies of any potential incidents related to flooding, landslides, or other natural disasters.
