Opposition firm on demand for probe committee over visit visa scandal: Whips Pandey and Pariyar

KATHMANDU: Chief Whip of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Hit Raj Pandey, said on Sunday that while discussions are ongoing between the ruling and opposition parties over the visit visa scandal, no consensus has been reached yet.

Speaking to the media at the Parliament building in New Baneshwor, Pandey reiterated that the opposition remains firm on its demand for a parliamentary investigation committee to look into the issue.

Similarly, Santosh Pariyar, Chief Whip of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), said that despite continuous dialogue, the ruling alliance has failed to grasp the gravity of the issue. He emphasized that forming an inquiry committee is the opposition’s minimum demand.

Pariyar expressed hope that parties would reach an agreement before the Parliament reconvenes on Monday, adding that the opposition also believes in finding a solution through dialogue.
