Construction of ‘Jalpadevi Gurans Hiking Trail’ begins in Bakchakha, Bhojpur

BHOJPUR: The ‘Jalpadevi Gurans Hiking Trail’ has been constructed in Bakchakha, Khoksik, located in Ramprasadrai Rural Municipality-8 in southern Bhojpur.

The trail is being developed with the aim of promoting the area as both a religious and tourist destination.

Ward Chair Bach Kumar Rai of Ramprasadrai-8 informed that an 800-meter hiking trail has been built at a cost of Rs 700,000.

The project is funded by the ward budget and the Nepal Climate Adaptation Program. “This area is rich in natural beauty, and our goal is to develop it into a major tourist hub,” he said.

According to Rai, the trail is being constructed in two phases, with plans to eventually extend it to the Great Mundum Hiking Trail in Aamchowk Rural Municipality.

A separate trekking route has also been developed in Bhanjyang Shankheshwari under the second phase, which is expected to be connected to the Jalpadevi trail in the future.

Local resident Dik Kumar Jogi believes the new trail will increase the inflow of both domestic and international tourists.

“This area is famous for its blooming Gurans (rhododendrons), which are found in abundance along the trail. Now that the trail is being built, we are already seeing more visitors,” he said.

Another local, Mahendra Rai, welcomed the ward’s initiative, saying it will help preserve the region’s natural beauty and cultural significance.

“The main attraction of this trail is the Gurans, and we are working to protect them. From this trail, visitors can also enjoy panoramic views of various mountain ranges,” he added.
