RPP Chair accuses police of helping Durga Prasai flee during Tinkune protest

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Chairman Rajendra Lingden has accused the police of helping Durga Prasai flee during Tinkune protest.

Prasai is one of the leaders involved in the royalist protest on March 28.

Speaking at an RPP protest in Balkhu on Tuesday, Lingden claimed that the government was behind Prasai’s disappearance.

He questioned why Prasai was not immediately arrested when he was seen driving a car in Tinkune on the day of the protest, after breaking through a police barricade.

“Why was Prasai not arrested right away when he broke the police barricade? The police chased him away but did not detain him,” Lingden said, adding that the police even fired tear gas and bullets at the stage where the royalist program was being held.

Lingden also remarked that despite some of their leaders being arrested during the incident, the RPP would not be distracted by such actions.

“If you continue to imprison our leaders, I want to tell Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak that you should prepare a good prison. The day will come when you will live in it,” he said.
