Shuklaphanta Municipality creating self-employment for 140 individuals



KANCHANPUR: The Shuklaphanta Municipality in Kanchanpur district is working to create self-employment opportunities for 140 individuals under the Cottage and Small Industries Promotion Programme implemented by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies at the local level.

The municipality would provide vocational and skill-based training for free to the selected youths to help them become self-employed, it is said.

Programme’s facilitator Dhan Bahadur Chaudhary said that the municipality has called for expressions for providing training to the youths.

He said that those candidates willing to begin their startups would be given priority for the training.

According to him, 15-day-long training programmes for paper plate making and mat weaving, 7-day-long training for gas stove and pressure cooker repair, 2-month-long training for motorcycle repair and other training programmes would be conducted.

Likewise, auto van driving training for women would also be conducted.

Chaudhary shared that each training programme will have as many as 20 participants.

Mayor of Shuklaphanta Municipality Rana Bahadur Mahara hoped that the youths will get more wages after being trained adding that the youths now are making nominal income for lack of skills.

The training programme is also intended to retain the youths within the country.

Mayor Mahara shared that efforts are underway to support the beneficiaries for getting loans from the banks and financial institutions to begin their businesses.

Mahara also vowed to support the entrepreneurs for the marketing of their products after the training.
