Grandchildren kill grandfather over Wi-Fi use in Parsa

KATHMANDU: A grandson and granddaughter have been arrested on charges of murdering their grandfather in Parsa.

The two arrested individuals are 20-year-old Khushboo Khatun and 18-year-old Kabul Devgan, residents of Jagatpur, Pokhariya Municipality-8.

They were arrested on Tuesday, according to Parsa Police spokesperson, Deputy Superintendent of Police Kishor Lamsal.

He said the duo had beaten 80-year-old grandfather Ramjan Devgan on Monday night, leading to his death.

During a domestic dispute, Ramjan was severely injured and was transported to Neuro Hospital in Birgunj from Birgunj Health Care. He died during treatment on Tuesday morning, Lamsal confirmed.

Lamsal further revealed that the conflict began over an issue regarding the Wi-Fi connection.

“The argument escalated into physical assault, and after the grandfather’s death in the hospital, the suspects were apprehended,” he said.

According to Lamsal, Ramjan had asked his grandchildren to turn off the Wi-Fi, leading to a confrontation where the grandchildren attacked him.

Both individuals involved in the murder have been arrested by the police.
