Karnali register second win; Defending champions Janakpur finish last

KATHMANDU: Karnali Yaks has defeated Janakpur Bolts by four wickets in the final league-stage match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2.

At the TU International Cricket Ground, Janakpur, while chasing a target of 130 runs, managed to score 125 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

In a thrilling finish that required five runs off the final ball, Karnali managed to seal the victory, pushing the defending champions Janakpur to the bottom of the league table. Karnali finished second from the bottom with two wins.

This was Karnali’s second victory of the season, having earlier beaten Lumbini Lions. They lost against Pokhara Avengers, Kathmandu Gorkhas, Biratnagar Kings, Sudurpashchim Royals, and Chitwan Rhinos.

Defending champions Janakpur managed only one win in seven matches and finished last in the points table. They lost to Lumbini Lions, Sudurpashchim Royals, Pokhara Avengers, Biratnagar Kings, and Kathmandu Gorkhas.

In the final match, Janakpur’s Sanjay Krishnamoorthy scored 51 runs off 39 balls, but his half-century could not prevent the team from finishing at the bottom of the table.
