Pokhara Airport corruption case: Case filed against 55, including former Ministers, with claims worth Rs 8.36 billion

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case related to the construction of the Pokhara Regional International Airport. On Sunday, the CIAA registered a case at the Special Court against former ministers, senior officials, and other involved individuals, claiming damages worth Rs 8.36 billion. Former Ministers for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhim Acharya, Ram Kumar Shrestha, Dipak Amatya, Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, and the late Post Bahadur Bogati have been named as defendants.

Congress files petition at Supreme Court demanding restoration of Parliament after Oli–Deuba meeting

The Nepali Congress, the country’s largest party, has also approached the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the House of Representatives carried out on September 12. Chief Whip of the Nepali Congress for the dissolved House, Shyam Ghimire, filed the writ petition, arguing that the dissolution was unconstitutional. He appointed senior advocate and former Attorney General Khamma Bahadur Khati as his legal representative. On behalf of the party, Ghimire authorized Khati, who also serves as the coordinator of the party’s election committee, to move the court.

PM Karki seeks former President Bhandari’s support on election bid

Prime Minister Sushila Karki has requested former President Bidya Devi Bhandari to support in creating a favourable atmosphere for the successful election on the slated date. During a meeting held at PM Karki’s office in Singh Durbar on Sunday, PM Karki informed the former Head of State that the government was engaged in corruption control and preparation for the March 5 election to the House of Representatives. The PM sought Bhandari’s positive role in supporting government activities.

Former President Bhandari visits fire-damaged Singha Durbar 

Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari inspected the fire-damaged parts of Singha Durbar that were affected during the Gen-Z movement on September 9. She visited Singha Durbar at around 2:00 PM on Sunday and observed the damaged structures. The western section of Singha Durbar was completely damaged due to arson during the Gen-Z movement that took place on September 8 and 9.

HoR elections on scheduled date: Minister Kharel

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel has said that the government is placing high priority on rooting out corruption through effective governance and ensuring that the House of Representatives elections are held on the scheduled date. Speaking at the inauguration of a week-long religious event at Krishna Mandir in Imadol, Lalitpur—organized by the Shrikrishna Pranami District Service Committee Lalitpur—Minister Kharel urged citizens to choose the right representatives in the upcoming elections.

Madhesh Chief Minister Krishna Yadav appoints three-member cabinet

The newly appointed Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Krishna Yadav, has inducted three ministers into his cabinet. Jangilal Rai Yadav of the Nepali Congress; Mahesh Yadav, the parliamentary party leader of Janamat Party;and Kanish Patel of the CPN-UML have been appointed as ministers. While Jangilal Rayee Yadav and Kanish Patel have been appointed as ministers without portfolio, Mahesh Yadav has taken the oath as the Finance Minister.

NHRC submits annual report to President

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has submitted its Annual Report for 2024/25 to President Ram Chandra Paudel. NHRC Chair Tap Bahadur Magar presented the report to the President during a ceremony held at the Office of the President, Shital Niwas, today. According to the Office of the President, the report was submitted in accordance with Article 294 of the Constitution of Nepal, which requires the Commission to present its annual report to the Head of State.

Madhesh Chief Minister Yadav to seek confidence vote on Dec 10

Newly appointed Chief Minister of the Madhesh Province Government, Krishna Prasad Yadav, is preparing to seek a vote of confidence on December 10. According to JSP Chief Whip Ram Ashish Yadav, today’s meeting of the ruling seven-party coalition decided to move forward with the confidence vote.

Earthquake jolts Darchula

An earthquake with its epicenter in Nepal’s Darchula district occurred this morning (Sunday). According to Lokbijay Adhikari, senior seismologist at the National Seismology and Research Center, the quake struck at 8:28 a.m. on Sunday. “A 4.6-magnitude earthquake occurred near Ghusa in Darchula district,” he said. Adhikari added that, as this is not a major earthquake, the likelihood of damage is generally low.

Sanga-Dhulikhel road: Upgradation begins in Pulbazar section

Upgradation work has resumed in the Pulbazar area of the Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel section along the Araniko Highway. Work on the Sanga-Dhulikhel section of the highway had been halted for one and a half years after landowners in the Pulbazar area did not permit construction at the midpoint of the road.

Gold and silver prices fall slightly

The prices of gold and silver have declined slightly today compared to Friday. According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders’ Federation, the price of one tola of gold has been set at Rs 252,200 today, while silver is priced at Rs 3,605 per tola.
