Dang sees 1,700 new voters added in a month

DANG: Around 1,700 new voters have been added in Dang in the past month. The additions are part of the voter registration and update process that began on September 28 in preparation for the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, 2026.

As of Thursday, 1,680 new voters have been added to the list. Gehendra Kunwar, Information Officer at the Provincial Election Office, Dang, said the number is relatively low. “This is a very low number. Registration is currently being done only within the district, which could be why fewer people are registering,” he explained.

Of the new registrants, 594 are women and 1,086 are men, with most in the 16–25 age group. Recalling that during preparations for the 2079 BS elections, at least 500 people used to register daily, Kunwar said that this time the number has not even reached 2,000 in a month.

He also noted a high demand for citizenship and national identity cards at the district administration office. Kunwar added that the low registration numbers are partly due to political parties not actively campaigning for voter registration this year.

The deadline for registering and updating voter names has been set for October 16. Dang currently has three constituencies, and the total number of registered voters has reached 416,735, including 211,716 women, 205,017 men, and two others, according to the Provincial Election Office.
