DAMAK: Police have arrested two individuals with banned pharmaceutical drugs in Kamal Rural Municipality, Jhapa. The arrested have been identified as Bishnu Prasad Bagale and Ganga Bahadur Khadka of Kamal-6, according to the Area Police Office, Damak.
Bagale, who operates a pharmacy in Geuriya, Kamal-7, was arrested on Wednesday evening from his residence in Mangalbare with 7,160 banned drug tablets.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ram Prasad Timalsina informed that the police recovered 3,000 Tramadol tablets along with 7,160 other restricted drugs from Bagale’s house. Both Bagale and Khadka, who reportedly supplied medicines to pharmacies in Damak as wholesalers, are in custody, and further investigation is underway.
34 drug-related cases registered in six months
Meanwhile, Deputy Superintendent of Police Pranab Timalsina released a six-month progress report since assuming office, stating that 34 drug-related cases have been registered. A total of 53 individuals have been arrested and legal action initiated.
According to the report, police have seized 61 grams and 700 milligrams of brown sugar, 91,665 Tramadol tablets, 30,166 Spaspan tablets, 1,609 Spasm tablets, and 1.4 kilograms of marijuana within the same period.
DSP Timalsina claimed significant progress has been made in maintaining peace and security, reducing crime, and strengthening investigations. He also informed that nine cases of vehicular homicide and three cases of manslaughter have been registered in the past six months, with all suspects arrested. In addition, out of 36 registered cases of financial crime, 11 individuals have been arrested, while 25 remain at large.
