Bhojpur’s ‘Chakhewa Bhanjyang’ emerging as a popular destination for tourists



BHOJPUR: Chakhewa Bhanjyang, located in Temkemaiyung Rural Municipality of Bhojpur, is rapidly emerging as a convenient and attractive destination for tourists. With recent improvements in roads and infrastructure, this naturally beautiful area has become much more accessible.

Situated around 40 kilometers from the Bhojpur district headquarters and connected by a blacktopped road, Chakhewa Bhanjyang sits at an altitude of 2,351 meters above sea level. Visitors often travel here to enjoy its scenic beauty and sample local cuisine.

Rural Municipality Chairman Saroj Basnet said that efforts are underway to develop Chakhewa as a hub of tourism, culture, and heritage. Being a key point along the Mundum trekking route and located near the Mid-Hill Highway, the area has been prioritized for the expansion of settlements and urbanization.

Chairman Basnet also shared plans to construct a large cultural museum, a park, and a cultural study center in the area, which lies at the border of Bhojpur and Khotang districts. The central government is currently in the process of identifying land for the museum, with an estimated budget of Rs 30 million.

Vice-Chairperson Ramadevi Rai added that fairs and festivals are organized throughout the year to promote Chakhewa and the Mundum trekking route.

The rural municipality has emphasized the development of both agriculture and tourism to generate income for local residents. It is implementing systematic plans with the slogan: “Agriculture, Tourism, and Cultural Infrastructure: The Foundation of Temkemaiyung’s Development.”
