NC central committee meeting enters final day with key leaders set to speak

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting is set to continue today at 2 PM at the party’s central office in Sanepa, Kathmandu.

The meeting, which began on June 30, has so far seen remarks from central committee members, invited central members, the party treasurer, and joint general secretaries.

Today’s session will feature opinions from remaining office bearers, including General Secretaries Gagan Kumar Thapa and Bishwo Prakash Sharma, and Vice Presidents Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhanraj Gurung.

According to party officials, once all designated leaders deliver their remarks, the meeting will move forward with decision-making on the proposals that have been presented over the past week.

The session will conclude with an address by party President Sher Bahadur Deuba, following which the meeting is expected to reach key decisions.

As per the party statute, the CWC comprises 167 members. However, the current number stands at 168, as a provision ensures inclusion of the presidential runner-up in the committee.

In addition to regular CWC members, the meeting has included three invited central members, seven provincial presidents, and four ministers who are not central committee members — namely Ramnath Adhikari, Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, Tejulal Chaudhary, and State Minister Khamba Bahadur Garbuja — all of whom have already expressed their views in the earlier sessions.

Today’s meeting is expected to bring the ongoing internal discussions to a formal close with concrete resolutions on party matters.
