Koshi Rural Municipality chair’s tirade against police goes viral

SUNSARI: A video showing Ayub Ansari, Chairperson of Koshi Rural Municipality, hurling abusive language at police officers has gone viral on social media, sparking mixed reactions from the public.

In the video, Chairperson Ansari is seen expressing outrage over alleged police mistreatment of dairy farmers and accusing the police of extorting money from the public. His remarks are laced with profanities and threats of violence.

“The police are harassing our people… taking bribes in my jurisdiction? I’ll bring the people and have you beaten,” he is heard saying in the video. “You eat the salt of my land and then harass my people?”

Ansari went on to say, “They come to ask for oil, shall we give oil? They come to demand bribes, should we give that too? I’m not giving anything to the police. This is not your job — there is no checking here. No traffic duties here. Leave!”

In the background, local residents are also heard complaining about excessive harassment by traffic police, particularly over vehicle checks and fines for alleged overloading.

The video, which was published on the Facebook page Sunsari Diary, has drawn varied reactions online. While many social media users criticized Ansari’s use of abusive language, others applauded him for speaking out against what they see as police overreach.

One user wrote, “Using vulgar words is wrong, I agree. But the traffic police have also gone overboard. They demand money under the pretext of overload… no driver is making a real profit anymore. Think about that too.”

Another commented, “This man wouldn’t speak like this for no reason — they must have really pushed him.”

The video was reportedly recorded on Friday afternoon when Chairperson Ansari visited a temporary police and traffic post at Koshi Katan along the East-West Mahendra Highway. There, he verbally lashed out at the officers and even issued death threats.
