KATHMANDU: Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal, announced that the operation of vehicles that violate standards will be banned in coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs.

During a discussion with transport entrepreneurs and workers at the ministry on Monday, he emphasized that the Roads and Transport Department alone cannot enforce a ban on vehicles operating against regulations, and thus, coordination with the Ministry of Home Affairs will be essential.

Additionally, he stated that priority would be given to managing alternative routes and diversions to avoid vehicle congestion at construction sites.

Minister Dahal also mentioned that the repair work on the BP Highway, which connects Kathmandu to eastern Nepal, has been expedited.

He highlighted that repairs to the Kanti Lokpath, an alternative route, are also being prioritized.

Ministry Secretary Keshav Kumar Sharma noted that further coordination will take place with the Ministry of Home Affairs, traffic police, other agencies, and the federal government to ensure the systematic operation of transportation.

Addressing the ongoing construction work on the Daunne road section, which has been causing disruptions for vehicles and passengers, Minister Dahal assured that arrangements have been made for freight and passenger vehicles to pass at designated times.

He emphasized that, since this construction project is a top priority, transportation will be facilitated soon.
