Hetauda Cement Industry resumes production after five months

HETAUDA: The Hetauda Cement Industry has resumed cement production today (April 7) after a hiatus of about five months.

Production was suspended due to a shortage of electricity required for cement manufacturing. However, with the restoration of electricity supply, production has now resumed.

Acting General Manager Nabin Kumar Karna stated that the industry requires eight megawatts of electricity daily to process limestone.

Currently, the industry has 1,900 metric tons of coal in reserve and is preparing to acquire an additional 4,000 metric tons through a bidding process in the second phase.

The Hetauda Cement Industry, located in Lamsure, Hetauda, was established in 2033 BS and officially inaugurated on Mangsir 26, 2043 BS. Initially, Rs. 1.5 billion was invested in the industry.

At present, 195 employees, including staff in administration, trade, accounting, storage, technical roles, and labor, have permanent jobs in the industry.

While the industry has the capacity to produce 18,000 bags of cement daily, it is currently producing only 12,000 bags.
