KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office, Taplejung, has issued arrest warrants against 10 activists involved in the Mukkumlung movement in Taplejung.

The movement has been advocating for the preservation of Mukkumlung, a significant cultural and ecological site in the region.

According to reports, the victims have raised concerns that arrest orders were issued for individuals who were previously injured during protests related to the movement.

These activists have been leading efforts to oppose the construction of the cable car project, which they believe will negatively impact the region’s environment and culture.

The list of activists for whom the warrants have been issued is as follows:

  • Saroj Kangliba Limbu
  • Purna Palungwa Limbu
  • Asim Palungwa Limbu
  • Chandra Maden
  • Pradeep Maden (Nani)
  • Muksam Labung Limbu
  • Ganesh Nugo Limbu

These individuals are accused of being involved in protests and organizing opposition against the cable car project. The protests have stirred controversy due to the opposition’s belief that the project threatens the cultural and environmental heritage of the area.
