Light rain and snow expected across the country

KATHMANDU: The western low-pressure system is currently exerting a partial influence across the country, resulting in partially cloudy to generally cloudy weather in the hilly areas and mainly clear skies in other regions, as reported by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The department also noted foggy conditions in some parts of the western Tarai this morning.

According to the department’s forecast, provinces such as Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki will experience partial to generally cloudy weather, while the rest of the country will mostly have clear skies with occasional clouds.

There is a possibility of light rain in a few areas in the hilly regions of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces, as well as in scattered parts of the Terai, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

The forecast also predicts a chance of light snowfall in the higher hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and in a few places in the far-western and Karnali provinces.

Tonight, the weather is expected to remain partially cloudy in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki, with clear skies in the remaining regions.

Light snowfall is likely in the high-altitude regions of Koshi province.

Over the next 24 hours, light rain is expected in a few areas of the hilly regions in Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces, as well as in some parts of Madhesh, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.

There is also a chance of light snowfall in the high-altitude and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Sudurpashchim, and Karnali provinces.

The department has advised the public to remain cautious, as the weather may impact daily life, health, transportation, and air travel.
